"This is a moment of privilege for me, and for my Ministry to be instrumental in the issuing of a stamp on one of my most illustrious and worthy predecessors.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is deeply indebted to him as the telecom revolution which is taking place in India would not have been possible without the far reaching changes he initiated in his time. I am happy to remind this august gathering that it was Shri Rajesh Pilot in whose time mobile telephony took roots in our country and the STD facility received a major boost, which brought the villages on the telecom map of India.

His concern for the rural poor and migrant workers were reflected in the emphasis he put on the rural money order system and expansion of the rural postal network.

We remember his time in my Ministry as an era of growth and technological advancement, always keeping in primary focus the needs and the concerns of the common man.

His integrated approach set a standard for our Ministry. On one hand we are determined to provide state of the art technology so that the communication facilities of India are among the world's best and on the other hand we also ensure that our services connect every common man in this country at an affordable cost. Striving to realize the vision Shri Rajesh Pilot had, for the role a post office could play in the development fabric of the country, Department of Posts, through its vast network, is committed to fulfill the communications, logistics, retailing, banking and insurance needs of the people. The post offices are also set to become focal point of dispensing the various welfare and development schemes of the central and state governments.

India Post is indeed proud to issue a stamp on dynamic and charismatic leader, Shri Rajesh Pilot. May I now call upon our Hon'ble Prime Minister to kindly release the stamp."
